Dear Lifelines: Lack Lustre

Dear Lifelines:

I don’t feel like working. How can I find something I enjoy doing?

Signed,

Dear LL,

Sometimes we all feel like we can’t quite get motivated. If, however, you feel like this all the time, this could become a problem for you and even for people around you. Perhaps this is what you are experiencing right now.

You may first have to figure out what interests you in working. Are you motivated by the money? Do you enjoy the work? Do you enjoy the people you work with? Do you have a sense of accomplishment in the work that you do? You may even benefit in creating a list of what makes you feel good and then you can gear your work choices towards those areas of interest. If you don’t have particular training for those jobs, you might want to consider checking out local institutions for training in order to reach your goals. It might take a lot less time than you think. When you consider the amount of dissatisfaction you might currently have, it might be worth investing in further education so that you can spend your future doing something you enjoy and you are motivated to do.

You might also consider checking online for career option programs to get more ideas about what interests you. There are also career counsellors in schools and locally you might also have job fairs and businesses geared towards helping you get training for the job you are interested in. You might even qualify for government grants and scholarships.

Best of luck!
