January

- Holiday Decorations: organize, pack and put away

- Kitchen Cabinets: clean and polish

- Fridge: Vacuum behind, clean coils

- Stove and Oven: clean

- Electric: Clean circuit breaker

- Fire Extinguisher: place near kitchen, check charge

- Plumbing: Clean main water line shut-off valve exterior

- HVAC: vacuum and dust

- Garbage Disposal: Crush ice (sharpens), baking soda and citrus fruit rinds (freshens)

- Range Hood Fan: check and clean

February

- Sinks, Shower and Tub: repair grout around

- Curtains: clean and vacuum

- Window Blinds: dust

- Ceiling Fans and Lighting Fixtures: clean

- HVAC: vacuum and dust

- Garbage Disposal: Crush ice (sharpness), baking soda and citrus fruit rinds (freshens)

- Plumbing: Check for leaks on supply lines to sinks and toilets

- Doors: tighten and lube bi-fold

- Electrical: test and reset all ground fault circuit interrupter receptacles, check all extension cords

March

- Baseboards and Doors: clean and touch up with paint

- Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors: check batteries

- HVAC: vacuum and dust

- Garbage Disposal: crush ice (sharpens), baking soda and citrus fruit rinds (freshens)

- Range Hood Fan: check and clean

- Electrical: test and reset all ground fault circuit interrupter receptacles, check all extension cords

- Weather-stripping and Windows: Check all caulking for separations and cracks, re-caulk

- Fire Extinguisher: placer near kitchen

April

- Air Conditioning: schedule service appointment

- Lawn: aerate and fertilize

- House: Walk around looking for problems like paint, shingles, foundation, etc.

- Sprinkler System: turn on, make adjustments and repairs

- Landscaping: after plants are established, set back irrigation

- HVAC: vacuum and dust

- Garbage Disposal: crush ice (sharpens), baking soda and citrus fruit rinds (freshens)

- Plumbing: Check for leaks on supply lines to sinks and toilets

May

- Deck: apply preservative sealer, clean, repair, check bolts, tighten

- House: hose down exterior

- Windows: wash and clean sills, inside and out

- Plant annuals and perennials

- HVAC: vacuum and dust

- Garbage Disposal: crush ice (sharpens), baking soda and citrus fruit rinds (freshens)

- Range Hood Fan: check and clean

- Tile: seal the grout (do every 6 months)

June

- Fridge: Test door tightness (use a dollar and pull it out of fridge after closing the door on it)

July

- Garage: de-clutter and donate

- Artificial Plants: clean

- HVAC: vacuum and dust

- Range Hood Fan: check and clean

- Plumbing: check for leaks on supply lines to sinks and toilets

- Fire Extinguisher: place near kitchen, check charge

August

- Carpets: clean

- HVAC: vacuum and dust

- Garbage Disposal: crush ice (sharpens), baking soda and citrus fruit rinds (freshens)

- Plumbing: Check for leaks on supply lines to sinks and toilets

- Doors: tighten and lube bi-fold

- Electrical: test and reset all ground fault circuit interrupter receptacles, check all extension cords

- Water Heater: remove water heater residue following the manual

September

- HVAC: vacuum and dust

- A/C: shut off, clean and cover until spring

- Garden: rake leaves dispose of mulch

- Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors: check batteries

- Garbage Disposal: crush ice (sharpens), baking soda and citrus fruit rinds (freshens)

- Range Hood Fan: check and clean

- Plumbing: Check for leaks on supply lines to sinks and toilets

- Weather-stripping and Windows: check all caulking for separations and cracks, re-caulk

- Heating: have the heating system serviced (always do in fall)

October

- Garden: plant new trees and lay sod (good deals this time of year)

- Garden: winterize perennials, clean annuals out

- Sprinklers: Turn off and disconnect water hoses (before 1st freeze)

- Roof and Gutters: clean off and check for damage

- Splash blocks: clean

- HVAC: vacuum and dust

- Plumbing: check for leaks on supply lines to sinks and toilets

- Hot Water Heater: drain and remove sediment (do in fall)

November

- Clothes Dryer: check on vents and hoses for lint

- Range Hood Fan: check and clean

- Plumbing: check for leaks on supply lines to sinks and toilets
