Life Hacks

Use a can opener to open sealed plastic packaging.

For icy steps and sidewalks in freezing temperatures, mix 1 teaspoon of Dawn dishwashing liquid, 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol, and 1/2 gallon hot/warm water and pour over walkways. They won’t refreeze. No more salt eating at the concrete in your sidewalks.

A smart idea – add weights to your stroller to counter the weight of a diaper bag hanging on the handles.

Use dental floss for picture hanging.

Use an empty tissue box to hold all your grocery bags.

Window squeegee removes pet hair from carpets.

Save your car door in the garage. Cut a dollar store swim noodle in half and stick it to your garage wall as a bumper. No more chips.

Use a baby wipe container for a yarn dispenser.

Apply a thin layer of clear nail polish to center of button to keep thread from coming loose.

Stick the Popsicle stick through the centre of a paper cupcake wrap to catch all the drippings. No more sticky hands.

Use a bean bag toy as an ice pack for kids. Keep the bean bag toy in the freezer and it works the same as a regular ice pack.

Each member of the family has a mesh lingerie laundry bag, and a hook. They put their dirty socks in the bag each night. Then when it's full, you wash the whole mesh zipped up bag, and give it back! No more sorting through and figuring out which socks are for which person!

Use toilet paper rolls to hold your wrapping paper together.
